Learn From the Ants
The quiet discipline you keep avoiding is the life you keep praying for
Dear Virtual Besties,
There’s a verse I can’t stop thinking about lately…the one that quietly calls you out without even raising its voice:
“Take a lesson from the ants…” — Proverbs 6:6
And I won’t lie to you… this one stings a little.
Because ants?
ANTS?
You mean those tiny things we ignore… step on… or brush off our skin like they don’t matter?
God said go and learn from them.
Let’s talk about it.
The part nobody likes to admit
Ants don’t wait for motivation.
They don’t wait for perfect conditions.
They don’t wait for someone to remind them.
They just… move.
Meanwhile, some of us (yes, I’m dragging you gently and myself too) have been “planning” for months…
Thinking… Overthinking…waiting for the right time, the right mood, the right sign.
Bestie… the “right time” has been tapping your shoulder for a while now.
What ants do that we don’t
The Bible says they have no leader, no boss, no supervisor…
yet they still prepare for the future.
Nobody is chasing them.
Nobody is clapping for them.
Nobody is posting “Day 1 of consistency” on their behalf.
But they are consistent anyway.
And that part is loud.
Because let’s be honest…
sometimes we only show up when people are watching.
When there’s pressure.
When there’s validation.
But real growth?
It happens in silence.
In the days nobody is checking for you.
In the moments that feel boring and repetitive.
Let me say something you might not like
If ants can prepare for the future…
what exactly is stopping you?
Because I know life is not easy.
I know you’re tired.
I know sometimes your energy is low and your mind is everywhere.
But you’re also capable of more than you’ve been giving.
And deep down… you know it.
Small steps still count
Ants don’t carry everything at once.
They carry tiny bits… over and over again.
That’s how they build.
So maybe your problem isn’t that you’re not doing anything…
maybe it’s that you’re trying to do too much at once and then burning out.
You don’t need to fix your entire life today.
You don’t need to have everything figured out this week.
But you do need to move.
Write the one post.
Send the one email.
Read the one page.
Save the small amount.
Consistency will do what motivation can never do.
The uncomfortable truth
Proverbs calls people who refuse to act “lazy”… and yeah, that word is strong.
But I don’t think it’s always about laziness.
Sometimes it’s fear.
Sometimes it’s doubt.
Sometimes it’s “what if I try and it doesn’t work?”
So instead… we don’t try at all.
And somehow that feels safer.
But it’s also what keeps you stuck.
Here’s your wake-up call (soft but firm)
You don’t need a supervisor.
You don’t need someone to chase you.
You don’t need to feel ready.
You need discipline.
And discipline is not sexy.
It’s not exciting.
It’s not something you’ll always feel like doing.
But it’s what builds the life you keep dreaming about.
Before you go… answer this honestly
What is one thing you’ve been postponing…
that you know you should start?
Not tomorrow.
Not next week.
Today.
Start small. Start messy. Start unsure.
Just don’t stay stuck.
Because if ants can build something meaningful with tiny steps…
imagine what you can build
if you actually decide to show up for your own life.

Let’s hold each other accountable.
